In Revelation 17:4-5 we see a spiritual vision or picture of an idolatrous religious system that unfortunately encompasses much of today's church. Hopefully by the end of this lecture you will be aware of who this system is physically as well as spiritually, enlightened as to the depth of her wickedness, and knowledgeable of the symbolism found in her description. I say her, because she is a bride. Let us begin by reading

We can see her mark etched on the world's religions, especially on the denominational churches. The evil spirits that lurk behind idolatry are exactly what formed the denominations in the first place. Men, and the nugget of truth God gave them, became the idols that these denominations were founded on. But God moves on. New truth is constantly being released. These once on fire churches become lukewarm, and in some cases spiritually dead, and left on the street to die. They think they are alive and well! But, God is not a denomination, so if we are, we are simply not in His image. Revelation, chapter three describes this very thing.

We see the spiritually dead again in Revelation 11:8.

Churches that are a part of Babylon reproduce a very vicious kind of people as we find in verse 6 of Revelation 17.

In other words, those Babylon mentors are deceived and blinded by immorality and false doctrine, and therefore have become a people that hate God's family. This is mainly because they were at one time a part of God's people, but stubbornly refused to make the changes in their lifestyle that truth demands, or were raised by ones that had lawlessly made that choice. So they demean, belittle and over the ages, as the above scripture brings out, have even killed the Lord's people because of the truth they teach and the walk they make. All this to justify their own actions.

The precious stones that are found in the vision of Mystery Babylon are her personal treasures. These jewels are people however. Ones that were meant to be God's gems that are now allowing Babylon's filth and abominations into their lives. They became tainted through the unholy actions of those connected to them in the church. Or perhaps they were already involved in these things because they themselves didn't choose to walk out truth. Here is what God intended for His people to be as prophesied by Zechariah.

They were to be His special treasure, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.

The gold Babylon is adorned with is symbolic of those who were called to leadership positions in God's Kingdom that she has lured into herself.

Malachi 3:3 and II Timothy 2:20-21 will help us to see this symbolism.

This tainted leadership (the wood and clay vessels) and all they mislead, end up drinking from Babylon's cup of abominations, walking contrary to truth and believing the lie of Satan that they are still OK with God. Because they belong to a church, they really think they are the children of God and therefore covered by the blood of Jesus, symbolized by the scarlet color Babylon is arrayed in. They see themselves as spiritually dressed in purple or as royalty (the color purple is symbolic of Royalty). Babylon's children walk in self delusion, arrogance and pride. They are so deceived!

Babylon is herself called the great harlot that fornicates with man's systems, and all that are a apart of this are one flesh or body with her.

This is a physical truth as well as a spiritual reality.

Is the church you are affiliated with permissive concerning moral issues? What is its stand on abortion for instance? Homosexuality? Adultery and Fornication? What about gambling, drinking, drugs, witchcraft and mind control? There are many people that claim to be Christians that participate in these demonic activities. You say no way, but how many do yoga exercises and play with a Ouija board as a mere game. Or how many fortune tellers are frequented by so-called Christians. Horoscopes are read daily by people professing to be Godly. Behind many pulpits there are those that engage in pedophilia, pornography and other grossly perverted sexual practices. The spirit of perversion is absolutely huge in Babylon, resulting not only in perverted sexual practices, but perverted doctrine and truth as well.

The people connected to Babylon, as mentioned before, will unite to form a group or body that is in total opposition to Christ's body. If a person is a part of them, they too are, or soon will be, in opposition to Christ Himself also. Please hear what I am saying and leave at once if you discover you are one caught up in a permissive group. The nature and force behind these people is Satan! They are in fact the tabernacle or dwelling of Satan, united in one body through sin. They are Antichrist, the lawless one. Their mother is Babylon and they are governed by, and still a part of, the beastly worldly systems of man. 666 is their identification number and their description is found in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12.

If you look at the word condemned in the Strongs Concordance it could be translated as damned. Why were they damned or condemned? They did not believe the truth. You see Jesus is the Word, He is the Truth, He is Life. If you don't believe the Word, or truth, you do not believe in Jesus, so you will lose your life. Don't be deceived by Babylon.

She talks about God. She teaches Godly conduct, but she reproduces what she is behind closed doors. Remember, she has become the bride of Satan. She is good and evil, and can appear outwardly as an angel of light. Her Sunday Schools teach the innocent, her ladies' groups shape today's wives, and her men's groups mold the husbands. But what is she teaching? What abomination is she condoning? What filth has she sugarcoated? Homosexuality for instance runs rampant in her churches. God says it's an abomination!

The Word definitely points homosexuality out as an abomination both in the New Testament and the Old. But the above do not want to hear the truth, so God gives up on them just as He did in II Thessalonians 2:11. Unfortunately those involved in these atrocities do not realize that God is not with them. Because of the church's permissive attitude, they believe they are still in the will of God.

But Leviticus 18:22 is pretty plain on this subject.

In fact, Leviticus 20:13 tells us that in God's eyes it is deserving of death!

Homosexuality however has been so accepted in the church today that it is now marrying them. It encourages these sin riddled people to adopt children and is even allowing them to pastor, etc. Is a church group that permits this of God? According to the Bible this is a sign that our society is in its last stages of decay!

Does your church perhaps teach and condone abortion? Its murder! From the moment of conception to old age, a life is a life. John the Baptist while in his mother's womb recognized the voice of Mary and leaped for joy.

What if Elizabeth had aborted him? (No John the Baptist.) Or, what if Mary had aborted her baby? (No Jesus!)

In Psalms 139:13 David sang:

God actually fashions us in our mother's womb, and even places the call on our life at that time. Satan knows who we are even as fetuses. Remember how he had King Herod try to kill Jesus? Before that even, he had the Pharaoh try to kill Moses. In Jeremiah 1:5 God tells Jeremiah,

Look at what Apostle Paul said in Galatians 1:15-16.

How many great men and women of God have been destroyed, murdered, and never allowed to fulfill the plan God had for them concerning His Kingdom before birth? Abortion is truly an abomination.

There are so many people involved in adultery in today's church and their children, at younger and younger ages, engage in fornication.

It was addressed in the original Ten Commandments! Paul warned very strongly in his day:

Babylon talks about this scripture, but doesn't walk it. She just closes her door and what she does behind it is her business and not God's!

The Jezebel spirit is a very strong and predominant principality in Babylon. Where the spirit of idolatry and error cause scriptural perversion, the Jezebel spirit causes the people themselves to be perverted morally. We can read about it in Revelation 2:18-23.

What is your church's real opinion on drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, over-eating, etc.? These also are lusts of the flesh. They are idols in the lives of people, that not only enjoy them, but turn to them in time of need as crutches to make it through situations where God alone should be their support. A person may be indulging themselves in a substance they have an appetite for, but in reality they are appeasing the spirit behind it. The idol of gluttony, nicotine, etc are evil spirits that people are in bondage to. These spirits mean to destroy every part of their lives that is Godly and then eventually destroy the vessel they've enslaved.

Again Paul warns us in Romans 13:11-14

There are church groups that actually serve alcohol at their functions, and go outside for cigarette breaks, etc. The problem is, Babylon is the home of demons that have reached the depth of hatred, bitterness, and perversion. They were sent by Satan to kill, steal and destroy all that is Godly. Lust, homosexuality, gluttony, drunkenness, witchcraft etc are all expressions of demonic activity. They are the fruit of the tree of good and evil. Here is the promise to the righteous however in Matthew 7:19-20.

In Luke 10:19 thankfully Jesus gives those who want to walk holy the power to do so. We do not need to be in bondage to these things, nor do we need to be captivated by people that try to ensnare us to be like them, or imprisoned by their demon possessed churches!

1 John 4:4 assures us the Holy Spirit is greater than any other spirit. Plus, we have angels that fight for us against the powers of darkness as we pray for help.

Acts 5:18 and 19 is an example of our protective covering from the angels.

If we want to find a way out of Babylon, Revelation 18:4 tells us what to do first. Separate! Escape!

There is the promise of help for those that will obediently come out of Babylon. As already stated, first we must separate from her and repent of ever being a part. The next step is to be born over again for a totally new beginning, and be filled with the Spirit so you can be led, trained and matured by God. Another vital step in being set free is to experience Isaiah 61, or the ministry of deliverance so you can be all that the Lord has called you to be, as well as the body you are now a member of. In other words, if you are not all you can be, the rest of the body cannot be all they are to be.

Psalms 102:18 shows us this end time born again child of God.

As Galatians 3:27-29 assures us, if we are baptized into Christ, meaning cut off from the Adamic race and born again through the name of Jesus, then we are Abraham's seed and he was a Hebrew. The proof of Abraham's lineage is found in Genesis 14:13 if you would like to investigate this. But let us turn to Galatians three and read concerning God's people.

This means the born again are also Hebrew when born through God and that the many promises He has made His children Israel are opened to them also. That is, if they will stay separate from the world, walk in repentance and live and walk holy in the shadow of their Father. For instance, as God destroys the harlot and the beastly systems she upholds, here is the promise and the hope of the Lord's people as promised through the angel Gabriel to Daniel.

To be named among those found in the book of life we must surely separate from what God calls abominable and so we must leave Babylon. Jesus prophesied the separation of the righteous at the end of this age and the destruction of the wicked as well. This too will be handled through the angels. We will be marked for life or death depending on where they find us and what we are doing.

The fate of Babylon and those that chose to remain in her loving care is recorded in Revelation 18:7-8.

God says in verse 20 that we are not to feel sorry for Babylon or her people. They wouldn't listen when warned to change, nor would they come out of the evil religious systems, but instead, actually came against those who tried to give them truth and warn them. In fact, God says to.

For misleading so many of the Lord's people by permissively allowing sin, teaching false doctrines and lies, and for stealing His precious stones, His treasure, through offering them a comfort zone where change is not necessary, let us read of her fate in verse 21.

This punishment is in fulfillment of Matthew 18:7-8.

And look at the warning found in I Corinthians 8:12.

You see, when people allow the enemy to operate through them to gossip, ridicule and destroy the validity of God's leaders and people, they are really coming against the Lord. They may or may not realize what they are doing, but as the Apostle John said in I John 4:20-21,

This statement is made by Jesus in Matthew 25:40.

So this is how Jesus sees it whether we want to acknowledge it or not. When people attack His brothers they are automatically in opposition to Him. Not a good place to be!

Babylon is the opposite of New Jerusalem. The Beast she rides, man's government, is in opposition to Zion, God's government. There are two opposite forces that function through them, Satan and Christ. Satan is uniting those he dwells in to become a body to oppose those Christ lives in. Satan unites through sin and hate, Christ unites those that walk in holiness through love. Whose side are we really on? Whose mark is on us? Revelation 18:4 should mean so much more to us now. So let us go back and read it one more time.

In this particular lecture we have discussed the lusts of the flesh harbored by Babylon. In the next few lectures we will in detail, expose her lies, and her horrible perversion of the Word, in depth. We will further remove her mask and reveal who and what she really is, that her captives may be set free.
