DESTROYING THE OLD TO BUILD THE NEW
Much of the church today is made up of people that appear Godly, but in reality they are the product of false doctrine and many times not even baptized properly. Some of them unfortunately are found behind the pulpit preaching and teaching!
What do I mean by being properly baptized? For instance, if not truly taught about repentance, we go to the watery grave of baptism with the sin and iniquity we walked in while a part of the world is still attached to us. How can this be? Because we were baptized without severing the cords of iniquity or soul ties to people we know are presently walking in sin and partaking of the pleasures and morals of this world. Unfortunately, without this separation we were not successfully born again though we outwardly experienced baptism. We went through the motions, but without change. God says in II Corinthians 6:17-18 to be separate, come out from worldly people to become sons and daughters of God and received as His family.
2 Corinthians 6:17-18
17 Therefore "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.
18 I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."
So you see, if cords of iniquity have us bound to the wicked, our rebirth was aborted and we are therefore still a part of the old race of cursed people. It is absolutely not possible to come up from baptism as "new creatures" while connected to the "old man" or the cursed Adamic race. We may have been rightfully taught to repent of our own sins, but still, sin is attached without severance from the sin of others. This separation includes even our own natural family if they are not properly baptized and walking Godly. Besides, our real family from the time we are resurrected as new creatures in Christ, is God's family, or those that do the will of God. If you think about it, people that have been born again, and delivered from all God has cursed, are the ones we should want to be connected to anyway! How can we be the blessed if tied to the cursed?
1 Corinthians 15:22 clearly explains why we must separate and be born again.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
Let me explain that this separation is spiritual not physical. We separate in our hearts and refuse to walk in their Adamic worldly ways. Therefore hopefully, because we no longer do the carnal things they do, we become an example for them to follow. However, if there is no change in those we are around after sharing the truth of God's word and the promises He makes to those that are His, then we must physically depart from them as well as spiritually. Their tainted fruit will begin to taint us if we stay attached. Remember God said in 2 Corinthians 6:17, "do not touch what is unclean."
THE NAME OF JESUS
Of course there are other reasons baptism can be ineffective as well. For instance, we may have been sprinkled rather than submerged. As the water represents our grave, we must be completely under it to be buried. We have to die to be resurrected into Christ. Sprinkling just won't do. Let us read how Jesus, our example, was baptized in Mark 1:9-10.
Mark 1:9-10
9 It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
10 And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove.
Now let us read Romans 6:3-4.
Romans 6:3-4
3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Perhaps we were submerged correctly, but were baptized in the titles of God: the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost, rather than in the name of Jesus. The word says in Matthew 28:19 to be baptized in the name of the Father, the name of the Son, the name of the Spirit of God. Read Isaiah 9:6 and you will see the Son is the Everlasting Father.
Isaiah 9:6
6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government will be upon his shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
He has many names, but the name He chooses for us to be baptized in however is Jesus. There is only one God, but He manifests to His people as the Father in creation, the Son in redemption and the Holy Spirit in the people that have experienced Pentecost. No one completely understands the Godhead, but let us read some scripture that will at least help us to see there is one God.
1 Corinthians 8:6
6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
They meant there was one God, yet they are talking about two manifestations of that God. Malachi helps to straighten our minds from this false doctrine of three Gods.
Malachi 2:10
10 Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why do we deal treacherously with one another by profaning the covenant of the fathers?
So, if we all have one Father and one God created us, in Colossians we will see that all things created in heaven and on earth were created by Jesus. He therefore must be that one God!
Colossians 1:16
16 For by Him (Jesus) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
So Jesus and the Father are one.
In John 14:9, Jesus Himself proved this
9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father'?
2 Corinthians 5:19 shows us how the Father and Son are one also.
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
God was in the bodysuit of what this world saw as Jesus, just as He is in those properly baptized today. We are but vessels He lives through. He is one God in many body suits today. This is why when we are united we are called "the body of Christ."
SO WHAT IS THE CORRECT WAY TO BE BAPTIZED?
Acts 2:38
38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Why is it so important to understand all of this? Because Jesus said at John 3:3 "indeed unless a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." In other words, the Kingdom of God is elusive to Adam, because they were cursed and barred from the garden after their fall.
Genesis 3:24
24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
For this same reason, as we studied before, Jesus Himself had to be baptized. He was born into the cursed race through His Adamic mother and was just like us. To be of righteous bloodlines and not cursed, He too had to be born again.
Matthew 3:13-15
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.
14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?
15 But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed him.
To be the perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind on the cross, Jesus severed all soul ties and cords to His personal family. He explained that His mother and brothers, after His baptism, were those that did the "will" of God. You have to be born again to even begin to be in God's will, so we see as Jesus pointed out, that the Family of God is made up of only the correctly reborn people.
Matthew 12:47-50
47 Then one said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You."
48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?"
49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers!
50 "For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother."
Satan has thoroughly confused the church on many issues and established incorrect methods of baptism in order to prevent rebirth and consequently stop the Family of God from growing. It is this Family the promises belong to. It is also this Family that will defeat Satan, be the Church Triumphant, and the fulfillment of I Corinthians 15:50-54.
1 Corinthians 15:50-54
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit kingdom of God (Adamic bloodlines); nor does corruption inherit incorruption (the cursed race of Adam).
51 Behold I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep (or die), but we shall be changed - (made immortal)
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye (the splitting of an atom), at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible (we until this time died physically), and we shall be changed (to live forever).
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality (we will walk into eternity).
54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." (What a wonderful time to look forward to.)
CONTINUED SEPARATION AFTER BAPTISM
Now that hopefully we are baptized correctly, we must ask ourselves, one: "are the friends I am associating intimately with doing the will of God?" Two: "is their lifestyle acceptable to be witnessed by Jesus?" Think about this, because He is in us and sees the things and people we are associating with. Unfortunately the precious Holy Spirit is exposed to all we are exposed to, so ask yourself, three: "is my personal family that I was born into, and attached to, a part of the correctly baptized born again people of God?" If we cannot answer yes to these questions, and we are bound to these ones, then we ourselves, even though we went through the motions of baptism, are still a part of the old Adamic race. Any church that accepts us in this condition, without helping us through the truth on separation, is a part of what God has named Babylon. We therefore have some real tough severing to do if we do not want to be a part of it. God said we are to stay away from the unclean and to come out from among them. He said this both to the early church concerning individual people through Paul in II Corinthians 6:17-18 as we read earlier, and again through John to us today, concerning Adam's worldly church with her many religions and denominations in Revelation 18:4.
Revelation 18:4
4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.
Who or what was God telling us to come out of? Let us look at the earlier scriptures in this chapter for the answer.
BABYLON
Revelation 18:2
2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!
She is the world's religions that harbor every sin, false doctrine and lie of Satan. She loves the hypocrite and as the above scripture pointed out, in her dwells the demons and every foul spirit which in turn attach themselves to her people. She is good and evil. The good can fool even the elect of God if they don't take the time to look behind the scenes.
Take God's advice to come out. Separate from any church if her people are not properly baptized or if they are not living as holy as their expected maturity level allows. Is sin covered over, do her leaders look for numbers rather than teaching truth that would possibly offend? Look a little closer, if they preach messages that allow the lawless a place among them, without requiring change, really beware! Look at the fruit to judge if you are eating from the tree of Life, or the tree of Good and Evil!
IN CONCLUSION
If you have repented for the sins you committed in the world and have asked God to separate you from the Adamic race and its curses, you have been properly prepared for baptism. If you were submerged in water, and baptized in the name of Jesus, then you died into Christ's death and came up from the water as a resurrected new creature, a part of the family of God and you are Israel. Congratulations, you are now ready to seal this by entering into covenant with God through communion to become a a new heir to the Kingdom of God. All that belongs to it will be yours also! We will discuss the covenants in the next chapter.
